As we sat down to eat I shared with them the short video that God showed me last week to encourage me. They got to see a sewing ministry that has been around for 5 years and has given out over 700 quilts to children needing comfort. I shared with them that there are hundreds of sewing related community projects that have reached globally. The video showed them that this was not just some nice little ministry with limited potential but it actually can grow to touch a lot more than the homeless in our town.
I relayed to them how I would also like to make special quilts for kids to give to the police departments. In Fresno I was apart of a group that participated in providing the Fresno Police Department quilts as other groups provided teddy bears for them to keep in the trunks of their cruisers. As children were taken from unsafe or abusive homes, the kids were given a quilt and a teddy bear. The quilt would wrap around them to give them a comforting hug as they hung tightly onto a teddy bear.
The ladies listened intently to the vision of CwC and got to see the two comforters that had been completed to that point. I then invited them into the sewing studio to help put one together. They pinned the comforter sandwiches together, tied and helped put away the left over food. Two ladies even looked online for items needed for an upcoming event at the church.
Before the ladies left they helped me get two more comforters to the point of top stitching. Their pinning helped me immensely as the first set of pinning is the hard part for me. That was huge.
They did not know what I had planned. These ladies stepped out of their comfort zones to come help with the ministry that I have started. It meant the world to me that instead of spending the day they way they would have preferred they came to support me and the ministry that I am trying to get off the ground.
As much as the day was a success for CwC it was a successful day for the women’s ministry. We ladies get together often for prayer, bible study, Sunday service however we seldom get to have time to just get to talk and get to know one another. The fellowship that took place was welcomed. Not just by me but all those in attendance.
Yesterday God blessed me not only with the volunteers that I have been praying for but time with friends that will be cherished for a long time to come.
God blesses us in many ways every day. Some days are more subtle than others. There are days that I know that I got through the day because of His love, grace and protection. Yesterday for me was a joyous day and I wanted to share with you.
We are blessed, not just to be blessed, but to BE A BLESSING!
Until next time, God bless!
